Dakota Consulting is seeking Scientific Research Specialists to support a federal client with locations in Gaithersburg, MD and Boulder, CO. The Scientific Research Specialist will be responsible for developing solutions to complex engineering, scientific and/or other technical problems.
The successful candidate MUST have prior experience working within a scientific research community.
Job Functions:
- Applies technical knowledge and judgment in a scientific or other technical field in relevant engineering principles and practices as required for technically complex assignments.
- Develops solutions to difficult problems
- Generates concepts as evidenced by product or process improvement
- Uses engineering/scientific tools to integrate requirements and solve technical problems
- Utilizes tools, techniques, processes and/or facilities, such as state–of–the-art simulation environments, laboratories, and test facilities. Contributes to the technical planning process
- Applies analytical techniques, gathers data to solve complex technical problems (e.g., requirements definition, operations research, modeling), and has leadership responsibilities
- Addition duties may include analysis of complex problems, definition of functional requirements, operations research, modeling, process analysis and design, and developing and providing training materials
- Perform a variety of engineering, technical/scientific tasks which are broad in nature and are concerned with design and implementation
- Supports the technical/engineering activities related to the development and integration of testing of projects to higher level engineers and other scientific disciplines
- Resolves technical issues through debugging, research and investigation
- Effective communication with technical specialists, project manager/team leader, and clients
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a technical field or highly specialized engineering, scientific or technology area
- Ability to work independently as well as with other team members
- Must be detailed and deadline oriented
- Excellent customer care skills and abilities-key are effective verbal, written, and listening communications skills
Education/Training and Certification:
- Academic Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or other related field is required
- Specialized training or Certification is a plus
Other:
- Must be able to obtain a position of public trust with the US Government
