Software Developer J2EE (Washington, DC Area)

Dakota Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Software (J2EE) Developer to perform application development tasks for a federal customer. The ideal candidate should have extensive programming background with Object Oriented Programming and strong system development life cycle skills (SDLC). The candidate should be well versed in software development practices, methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Iterative), application testing approach, and various design and development models.

This position requires the candidate to have the ability to assess the current state of existing applications, develop and identify plan for identifying and correcting software defects, and completion of coding for existing requirements within a short time frame.

Job Functions:

Responsibilities include:
  • Assist with architecture, design, development, deployment, and management of existing applications
  • Software development in J2EE environment
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies and overseeing application testing
  • Assess current state of existing applications to identify, manage, and fix software defects, and develop additional code as needed
  • Resolve technical issues through debugging, research and investigation
  • Effective communication with technical specialists, project manager, and clients
Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years work experience desired in Java and J2EE technologies
  • 3 or more years hands-on database skills working with Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, MS SQL Server or other relational database
  • Experience in WebSphere, WebLogic or other web servers, configuration and administration, Subversion, and maintaining Ant scripts
  • 3 or more years demonstrated experience with XML, XML Schema, XSLT
  • Must possess specific skill set (JEE core technologies) - JSF (RichFaces Impl), JBoss Seam/Weld, EJB 3.0, JPA (Hibernate Impl), and JBoss AS
  • Must possess 1 skill from each of the following sets:
    • jBPM/jPDL or JBoss ESB
    • BPEL or BPM
    • JAX-WS or JMS
    • Oracle PL/SQL or SQL
    • Facelets or FreeMarker
    • Ant or Maven
    • Spring
    • Hibernate
    • Web services (REST, SOAP)
  • Ideally possess specific skill set - JasperSoft (Reports and Server), and Eclipse or NetBeans IDE
  • Experience working within application development for federal sector projects is desirable
  • Some experience with JUnit or other unit testing tools
  • Good understanding of Weblogic and other app/web servers is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong SDLC process approach to software engineering
Education/Training and Certification:
  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience in a related field is required
